David Karp (Tumblr, CEO) – The Way I Work

David Karp (Tumblr, CEO) – The Way I Work

Some great insight into the daily rigamarole of David Karp and Tumblr. I love this part, because I think Jen and I feel the same way about laptops:

Sleep is precious to me. I’m very disappointed if I don’t go to bed before midnight. We have a rule: no laptops in the bedroom. Being on computers all the time makes me feel gross.

Also, another highlight (aside: I keep wanting to capitalize the H now):

I spend a lot of time with people who work at Tumblr, but I make a very poor effort to hang out with other people in my life. I’m trying to do a better job of that. But, honestly, I love quiet nights at home. My girlfriend is a spectacular chef. She usually cooks dinner for us two or three nights out of the week. And then we wind down by watching TV.

On the rare occasions that we do cook/bake, it’s pretty dang good – Jen makes a killer loco moco (I’ll have to take a photo next time), and I make killer banana bread (the secret? tons of bananas). And of course, I love our quiet nights in when we watch TV, or end up just talking to each other for a few hours, before we look at the clock and wonder where the time went. Yeah, I love my girlfriend. She’s pretty dang cool. :)

I’ll have to write one of these “way I work” type posts sometime, maybe once I have a slightly more regular schedule that doesn’t change 4-5 times a year.
