Some turd, identifying himself as “Jimmy”, commented on last night’s post:
“Your bio makes you look ridiculous. It might impress your peers, but for the competent, it’s just total bullshit. Your education is a waste of time and money because you lack focus.”
First off, I’m going to refer back to MG for this one – most comments are absolute bile, and here’s the clincher:
“Let’s be totally honest here: anyone worthwhile leaving a comment should do so on their own blog.”
I couldn’t agree more, MG. It’s attacks like these that make me want to turn and keep comments off. If people want to attack me, they can do so on their own turf.
I’m not going to argue against the claims from Jimmy’s comment – I’ll let the years I’ve put into my education, the research I’ve done, and my writing speak for themselves. It’s not worth my time to attempt to define what “competent” is, and how “Jimmy” from @crackcorn.com is quite the opposite. Or that the work I do and my aspirations to change the world through immunological research is genuine, and not just total bullshit. Or that the education I am wasting my time and money on is exactly what I need to be able to do the things I am passionate about in my life.
Oh, and the fact that I want to do immunological research with a systems biology perspective, maybe to work on a project such as the development of immunological memory in CD4+ T-cell populations? Yeah. Totally a lack of focus. Especially for a twenty-fucking-one year old.
Jimmy, you and people like you can get off my lawn, and attack me from the comfort of your own home. Or better, simply don’t read what I write, and anything else you don’t like and can’t bend your “competent” mind around. The rest of us will be out doing bigger and better things anyways.
Sorry for the personal rant, but I just couldn’t let this one sit after all the effort I’ve put into getting two little letters put after my name, and working hard towards getting an additional three.
